The new Dusseldorf Airport is a contemporary space painted high gloss white, and made alive with bright lights and metal accents. The architects used Ocean throughout the space as both a reflective and transparent material. The Omega infill panels suspended from the ceiling both diffuse and soften the structure behind, while at the same time shimmering with reflected light. The wing-like structure above the ticket counters and the passage ways are clad in Ocean. They function, when they're hit with up-lighting, as enormous reflectors. Cascading like flowing water above the escalator banks, Ocean reflects light and offers a pleasing segue from floor to floor. Photography: Thomas Riehl/Artur.
