Attachments
How we attach our fabrics depends on the specific application, panel size, structural characteristic, scale and, of course, your design concept. And we also possess the technical know-how to create custom attachment devices tailored to your needs.
Methods for attaching metal fabrics fall into two distinct categories: tensioned and framed. Metal fabrics can be tensioned by three different methods: woven-in round bar, extended loop, and clamping profiles. These methods, in combination with turnbuckles, eyebolts, nuts, brackets and springs, apply the proper tension to the metal fabric. This pre-tension force, in addition to the forces of impact, snow, ice and wind, must be considered when sizing the hardware and substructure.
Framed is the most appropriate attachment method for small panels used in applications such as handrail infills. It uses rigid metal fabrics and require the addition of a substructure for attachment. GKD typically supplies the fabric and all hardware as well as engineering calculations and shop drawings.
