 Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Architect/Designer: Gensler

GKD Metal Fabric: Futura 3110

With more than 150 years of history and over 280 attorneys, Phelps Dunbar located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a top-notch law firm. The most recent success of the prospering chancellery was the honoring of five Dunbar Partners as “Lawyers of the Year.”

Founded in 1853, the honorable law firm, which consists of seven offices, places a great deal of value on a classy but contemporary appearance. The interior zone of the office in Baton Rouge was recently remodeled by the global architecture firm, Gensler.

A characteristic style element, which combines the highest aesthetic requirements as well as ease of installation, was needed for the designing of the stairways. Metal mesh, type Futura 3110, fulfilled these requirements and came into use at the stairwell area.

In the interplay with the lighting of the stairway, the reflective stainless steel mesh evokes fascinating light effects. In addition to the clamping at the top and bottom end, the metal mesh is attached to the stringers in both ascending and descending direction. Over 13 feet wide and about 36 feet tall rectangular mesh panels divide the stairwell. Due to its transparency, it provides the desired spacious and high-quality appearance.
