LEED Platinum Building Includes GKD Metal Mesh
"Three Part Harmony"
The California Independent System Operator Corp. headquarters in Sacramento, California has attained LEED Platinum certification. This project features GKD Metal Fabric taking on the most intense solar challenge on the project. Nine panels of Omega 1510 were used to shade glass while still allowing some light to enter.

"Woven Metal From GKD-USA Helps Transform Seminary Library"
The Allen & Jeanette Early Center for Christian Education and Worship is nestled within the other spaces, separated by huge woven metallic fabric screens. This metal fabric - Omega 1520 stainless steel/ bronze - provides a warm and dramatic backdrop for the chapel, works as a balustrade for the balconies, and offers sunshading benefits.

"Metal fabric golden wings adorn hotel lobby"
The Hilton Frankfurt Airport Hotel lobby in Frankfurt, Germany contains artistic elements that flow throughout the space and incorporate themes of flight and transportation. JOI Design, Hamburg, Germany, created a unique and functional area, particularly near the reception desk, which is offset by two golden canopies in the shape of wings. The golden wings are made from 3,200 square feet of metal mesh in the Mandarin weave from GKD-USA Inc., Cambridge, Md.

With its sweeping façade clad in stainless steel, glass and pre-cast concrete enveloping an impressive 285,000 square feet of space, the scope of the project is only matched by its design prowess. Helmed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the Kauffman Center is as practical as it is expressive, designed as a model of functionality, accessibility and sustainability. However, as a $386 million investment in the future of the arts, the facility is only as good as the acoustic principles of its concert halls.

Opened on Sept. 16, 2011, the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo., has not only revitalized the region it serves, but has dramatically changed the city's skyline. Designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the project encompasses nearly 285,000 square feet of space and has a sweeping façade clad in bead-blasted stainless steel, glass and pre-cast concrete. As practical as it is expressive, the Kauffman Center was designed as a model of functionality, accessibility and sustainability. Kansas City-based A. Zahner Co. supplied its GB-60 Stainless Steel panels to clad the entire roof and metal wall surface of the building.

French architect Dominique Perrault’s design of a footbridge Pasarela del Arganzuela links two banks of the Rio Manzanares in the heart of Madrid’s Manzanares lineal park and adjacent to his megastructure complex Caja Magica (2009). The 250m-long bridge’s helical form is clad in stainless steel mesh manufactured by GKD AG that permits both ventilation and light filtration for pedestrians and cyclists.
