Location: Oslo, Norway
Architect: Julien de Smedt, JDS Architects
Project Type: Stadiums and Arenas
Julien de Smedt designed a structure to withstand harsh weather. His winning design for the Holmenkollen jump hill balances design and functionality. While the fluid lines mimic the dynamics of ski jumping, the 40,000 ft² of Sambesi and PC Sambesi stainless steel façade protects the athlete on the hill from the wind. The stainless steel metal fabric's transparency adds to the visual effect of the futuristic light concept.
