GKD Donates Food For Local Church’s Annual Thanksgiving Feast

November 24, 2015

In our favorite time of year, GKD-USA gives back to the local community for Thanksgiving. At our annual GKD Thanksgiving feast the price of admission is a non-perishable food item to be donated to Grace United Methodist Church.

Grace Church, in downtown Cambridge, Maryland has been an anchor in the community since its establishment in 1883. The church is extremely active in Cambridge stating, “Through it’s membership, Grace has been a voice in major economic, political, and educational decisions, given countless thousands of hours of volunteer service through community agencies and boards, and been an active participant in cooperative ministries with other Churches in the county.”

Every year the Church hosts a community Thanksgiving lunch in which every member of the local community is invited to eat or volunteer for the event. Additionally, most of the churches within the community participate in the event which is 2014 allowed over 900 less fortunate people to have a Thanksgiving meal with food donated by the community. The event encourages participants to help serve, cook or deliver local meals to those members of the community who are unable to travel.

GKD has participated in the event for several years, fostering its strong sense of community through the participation of local events, including our annual toy drive around the Christmas season.
