Nearly 500 framed GKD panels subtly enhance the visual appearance of the MahaNakhon tower in Bangkok, Thailand. This attractive exterior façade fulfills two functional roles: it serves as reliable fall guard protection on all floors and plays a key role in supporting the environmentally friendly initiatives of the complex.
Dynamic, interactive façades work well in large-scale applications and can cover sizable existing surfaces while decreasing the use of electricity compared to traditional electronic billboards. Plus, thanks to a high level of transparency, these façades allow for natural daylight and ventilation to reach the buildings surface.
Metal fabrics offer architects and designers a powerful ally in creating texture. With a broad spectrum of fabric design, thickness, weight, width and transparency, metal fabrics from GKD are especially well suited to a diverse array of interior and exterior applications.
After disappointment with material samples and mock-ups for the new Houston Area Safety Council, Kirksey Architecture turned to GKD Metal Fabrics to create an elaborate etched stainless steel façade. The resulting design is an ode to Texas industry that will welcome visitors for decades to come.
