GKD Creates a Provocative Stainless-Steel Sunscreen that Envelopes and Protects a Glass-clad Research Library
By working with GKD’s expert team of in-house designers, fabricators and installers, Rowland Design and the Liberty Fund were able to brainstorm and design 30 stainless steel metal fabric panels.
At GKD, we set out to create a variety of panels that utilize different stainless steel metal fabric weaves to accomplish the specific design and functionality goals.
Nearly 500 framed GKD panels subtly enhance the visual appearance of the MahaNakhon tower in Bangkok, Thailand. This attractive exterior façade fulfills two functional roles: it serves as reliable fall guard protection on all floors and plays a key role in supporting the environmentally friendly initiatives of the complex.
Dynamic, interactive façades work well in large-scale applications and can cover sizable existing surfaces while decreasing the use of electricity compared to traditional electronic billboards. Plus, thanks to a high level of transparency, these façades allow for natural daylight and ventilation to reach the buildings surface.
