After graduating from Appalachian State College, I spent the first part of my career in the classroom. Teaching gave me a strong appreciation for how to take architects and owners through the process of identifying needs and developing solid GKD systems solutions. In my eight years at GKD, I’ve worked on a vast array of projects from Park Square at Doral, one of the first mixed use parking garage spaces to New World Symphony in Miami and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. For me there are no two projects alike and that’s perfect.
Training in the U.S. Air Force, real estate and sales gave me a great foundation for my work at GKD. Over the past seven years, I have enjoyed the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and with a number of architects. Some of the stand outs include Yankee Stadium, Piper High School in Kansas City, the Mall of America. My first priority is to guide and support customers through the specification, ordering and installation process.
A degree in visual and performing arts as well as a background in mechanics and construction has been just the blend of skills needed for my role in GKD sales and tech service. These skills allow me to appreciate the architect’s vision while understanding the “nuts and bolts” of how a project can be executed to help preserve and protect that vision. During my six years at GKD, I have worked on a range of projects including the Chicago Art Institute, Eastern Michigan University, the University of California Davis Medical Center and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City.
